Disciple Now Host Homes
LBC DISCIPLE NOW HOST HOMES
Responsibilities and Privileges
Thank you for considering to be a Host Home leader for Disciple Now Weekend November 6-8, 2009. You are an integral part of what God will do that weekend in the lives of our students. Your faithfulness may allow for a student to embrace the gospel for the first time or help one of our current students draw near to God. You will have the opportunity to see students changed forever because you opened your home to them. I assure you that this sacrifice of your time and your home will not be in vain. God will richly bless you from being around our students and for being faithful to use what God has given to you.
Below are some of the responsibilities and privileges of being a Host Home leader.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Space—Provide a meeting area for the teaching time. This area will need to be sufficient for a group of 8-15 people. A Living Room or Den works best. You will also need space for the students to crash for the night. Beds are not required, the students will be bringing sleeping bags You will also need to provide the DNow leaders with a room in which to sleep. They will need to get rest and have a place to pray and prepare for the sessions.
Food—Provide 2 meals for the weekend: Saturday Breakfast, Saturday Lunch and Snacks and Drinks for the weekend. We will have Dinner at the church on Sunday Night. You are encouraged to recruit parents of your group to help you with the various meals. We will provide you with paper products and other staples that you will need. Each student will be asked to bring snacks for them and their friends to eat throughout the weekend. Anything you do over and above what we ask is your prerogative.
Discipline—You are in charge of discipline at your home. Do not depend on the leader to handle discipline with the group. Discipline is your responsibility. Make sure when the students arrive that you make them aware of your house rules. The students will be encouraged to respect your home and you.
Before the weekend, you will need to think about the rules of your home and communicate those to your group when they arrive on Friday night. Enforce the rules of the weekend. If you have a persistent problem, call Darrell’s cell phone.
PRIVILEGES
LOVE ON TEENAGERS. Look for opportunities to be involved with the students during breaks. Please take time to show Christ’s love to the students in your home. Be around when they eat their snack and meals. Get to know names and faces.
Be as involved as you can in the rest of the weekend. Please come to as much as you can during the Disciple Now Weekend. You will be given a schedule so that you can decide what will work best for you. We ask that you wear your T-shirt and blue jeans Sunday morning and sit with the students.

Serve in the Youth Ministry
Open Opportunities for Service in the Youth Ministry
Wednesday Night Teacher Assistants
We are looking for additional Adults to be involved in our Wednesday Night Discipleship program (Salt and Light). We already have teachers in place for all of our classes but are looking for adults who would be willing to sit in as a second adult in our Topical Class (Alan Blowers). We currently have this in place in our other classes. This will be a good idea for if the main teacher needs to be out, class management, and additional support and perspective.
Sunday Night SNAC Drivers
We are looking for adults who have been through the van training class who will commit to driving for us once a month for Sunday Night After Church (SNAC). It seems we often need additional vans and have to recruit drivers in a last minute fashion. With this new program, all volunteer drivers will be assigned a Sunday Night a month in advance so they could be prepared to drive if needed.
Event Sponsors
We are looking for adults who would like to go as Sponsors for these events:
Love Project- May 1-2, 2009- Local Missions Project
Youth Mission Trip- June 13-20, 2009- Memphis, Tn
Middle School Camp- Camp 220- July 6-10- Waxahachie, Tx
High School Camp- Camp 220- July 27-31- Longview, Tx
If you are interested in serving in either of these ministries please email Darrell @ dhalk@lakelandbaptist.org
